Amish Originals Furniture Co.: Miriam's Journal, November 11, 2009

Dear Journal,

The day after the wedding we wash the dishes that were left unwashed from the evening meal, then we sort and pack them. It usually takes until noon. Everyone worked on getting the shop back to running order for the workers Monday morning.

On Saturday we helped the newlyweds move to their temporary living quarters. It's in a basement that is set up as a living area in someone else's house. I do miss having Marie around here and so do some of the other children, but I send my blessings. Linda, my youngest, lost her binky the day of the wedding. It was quite an adjustment to lose her binky and an old sister at the same time. It has made her grow up a little more.

Marie has been helping here in the shop as time permits for her. She has also helped me one day to can some carrots. So far we have done 27 quarts and 13 pints. The rest of the carrots we dug and have them stored in the root cellar. I put them in a galvanized tub and covered them with sand. We want to see how well they keep this way. Last year we just left them in the garden and covered them up with hay. We then dug them as they were needed.

The deer and coon hunting season is in full swing.

More later........God bless,

Miriam
