We are about to begin a painting project inside our theatre location, and Melissa has offered to share her thought process and offer some helpful hints for others considering a DIY painting job. Thanks Melissa.
· Start by selecting a variety of color swatches in cool, neutral, and warm tones of your desired shade.
· Narrow your choices by holding swatches next to upholstered and wood furniture in the room.
· Further eliminate choices by comparing next to flooring and artwork in the room.
· Most importantly, if you like the color, use the color.
· Once the color has been chosen, prepare your space by moving furniture to the center of the room. Remove nails, fill holes, and tape moulding or vents where you don’t want paint to stray.
· I’ve learned that before you start with a roller, you can remove loose fibers. with duct tape. Doing so makes for a nicer finished product.
· Apply evenly to avoid drip marks.
· Finally, allow paint to dry completely before removing any tape to avoid pulling paint from wall.
We hope your next painting project is a successful one, and we invite you to stop in when you can to see how Melissa’s project turned out.
